We buy these watches from various defence auctions and other disposal sales and it's frequently the case that we find that there is actually nothing wrong with the watch but it has to be assumed it will have some form of fault though in most cases it's very minor or as described below. These watches are disposed of at low-cost because we find that one of the problems is the pressure of time for our service staff in the UK and elsewhere and in most cases, they have given them a quick check over and nothing is immediately apparent though we have to assume that there is either no real fault with the watch or something will reveal itself over time in which case it’s normally a simple case of a service, repair or battery exchange depending on the exact model

This MWC model is directly descended from the G10 watches we made back in the 1980s and retains the popular battery hatch which has been discarded by most other manufacturers. The battery hatch was originally employed because in the early days of quartz watches batteries only lasted around a year but with the battery on this watch now lasting around 5 years it is really just a design detail although it remains very popular for historical reasons.

This variant of MWC's G10 is one of the companies most tried and tested G10 models and in its earlier variants has been in service for over 30 years. A large number of serving military on deployments worldwide have evaluated this model with very favourable reports with regard to long term reliability and general durability. One factor which greatly contributes to this is the screw-down locking crown which provides a high degree of protection when compared to watches with more vulnerable push-in crowns.

This watch also benefits from the use of Luminova for improved nighttime visibility. Luminova operates like a light battery, after sufficient activation by sunlight or artificial light, the dial will glow in the dark until the luminosity gradually diminishes although larger markings are often visible for the whole night. This activation and subsequent light emission process can be repeated again and again, and the material does not suffer any ageing. The other advantage is that LumiNova pigments are 100% free of radioactivity.

The G10 battery hatch variant is very rugged and is designed to survive the most extreme of conditions. It is supplied with both a current issue grey NATO webbing strap and a black strap although we can supply a wide range of straps in other colours if you wish to buy another variant as an additional strap. The back of the case bears various contract markings (which are unique to each watch) in addition to the serial number.
