MWC P656 Tactical Series Watch with GTLS Tritium, Ronda 715li Movement and Sapphire Crystal (Date Version) - Running Fine but Needs Hand Re-Setting
This watch is a P656D/A2/LI below is a full description of this particular watch and the issues which it has (or is reported to have because in many cases the watches do not have significant issues, below that is the full information relating to this model from the factory website which gives full details of all of the dimensions, specification and other information relating to the watch.
We buy these watches from various defence auctions and other disposal sales and it's frequently the case that we find that there is actually nothing wrong with the watch but it has to be assumed it will have some form of fault though in most cases it's very minor or as described below. These watches are disposed of at low-cost because we find that one of the problems is pressure of time for our service staff in the UK and elsewhere and in most cases they have given them a quick check over and nothing is immediately apparent though we have to assume that there is either no real fault with the watch or something will reveal itself over time in which case it’s normally a simple case of a service, repair or battery exchange depending on the exact model
Condition: Sound as can be seen in the images
Fault: Running Fine but the second hand needs resetting. This would be a routine job for any watchmaker.
SKU Code: P656D/A2/LI
The robust 300 m water-resistant MWC Tactical Series of watches were specifically designed for marine, surface and airborne applications, they are manufactured to surpass U.S. W-46374F Type 6 specifications, these watches were ordered by a bulk contract client and are based on designs made in the mid-1990s but with multiple upgrades, one of the original watches appears in the final image, the main improvements are the solid titanium case (the first watch of this pattern in the 1990s was the P650 which was made from Polyamide), water resistance is increased by a factor of 10 from 30 m to 300 m (99ft to 1000ft) and the addition of a screw-down crown and heavy-duty screw caseback etc significantly upgrades the specification. The bezel has high visibility numerals and the dial is also very clear and easy to read even under adverse light conditions. The watch uses Swiss Tritium GTLS (Gaseous Tritium Light Sources) which are significantly brighter than any conventional luminous watch.
The timepiece features a high-quality Ronda high precision Quartz Movement (Ronda caliber 715li) designed to withstand high G-forces which has an incredible 10-year battery life as well as an end of battery life indicator. The watch is water-resistant to 30 ATM (1000 ft/300 m) although it is not a dedicated diving watch it is manufactured to the same water resistance rating as our diver's models with a screw-down crown and caseback and is suitable for all land-based or marine requirements.
The main difference between this watch and many other models which we manufacture is that it is designed to maintain high levels of accuracy at altitudes up to 12,000 m / 40,000ft without compensatory pressurization.
The dial features a radioactive tritium symbol. Tritium is a radioactive isotope of hydrogen. When it decays, it emits beta particles, although these do not penetrate the skin, plastic, glass, etc. Whilst the vials contain radioactive gas even when they are all taken together they contain less than the personal limit of 25 millicuries - see U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations 10 CFR 30.15.
