This watch is a XLD/QZ/12/PVD below is a full description of this particular watch and the issues which it has (or is reported to have because in many cases the watches do not have significant issues, below that is the full information relating to this model from the factory website which gives full details of all of the dimensions, specification and other information relating to the watch.

We buy these watches from various defence auctions and other disposal sales and it's frequently the case that we find that there is actually nothing wrong with the watch but it has to be assumed it will have some form of fault though in most cases it's very minor or as described below. These watches are disposed of at low-cost because we find that one of the problems is pressure of time for our service staff in the UK and elsewhere and in most cases they have given them a quick check over and nothing is immediately apparent though we have to assume that there is either no real fault with the watch or something will reveal itself over time in which case it’s normally a simple case of a service, repair or battery exchange depending on the exact model

Model:  XLD/QZ/12/PVD

Condition: Very clean and as new in original tin - see images of actual watch.

Fault: The item was purchased at a military and security industries auction there is a battery in the tin with the watch. We don't know what fault the watch has if any but we have new movements at €29 / £25 if needed so its well sort repairing. It could just be a battery.

Factory Description

SKU CODE: XLD/QZ/12/PVD

The MWC Kampfschwimmer (Military Diver) models are MWC's latest heavy duty divers watch range, they have a significantly more robust case than most other military divers watches, they also have additional crown protection, wider strap at 24mm (most military divers watches use a 20mm strap) and a thicker bezel design. The thicker bezel makes it significantly easier to grip which is a feature which was specified in a procurement contract because these watches were specifically designed for use by Police and Military divers as well as for use in inflatables operating in cold and extreme environments.

This particular variant has a European pattern NATO  dial and is finished in a special covert matt black non reflective PVD finish, this finish is often specified in military contracts for many special forces units as well as by anti terrorist units and for various covert operations. In the PVD process the steel is not black all the way through because the colour is created by a special chemical PVD plating process which is vastly superior to the painted finish used on some lower quality watches which can easily fade or rub off. This PVD process means that the colour of the steel is altered at a molecular level, therefore it will not deteriorate even during heavy usage although it can be destroyed if the case is badly damaged by a piece of metal being gouged out or if the case is worn down by really heavy abrasion against rocks or something similar.

If you are looking for a solid black stainless steel military watch that is both discreet and has a high water resistance rating then this top of the range model is ideal. In addition to the strong robust case this watch has a high performance Ronda 715li movement which provides an incredible 10 years between battery changes plus high levels of accuracy and an end of life indicator to give advance warning that the battery will soon need changing. The watch also has a hacking function to enable synchronization.
