MWC G10SL MKV Military Watch with GTLS Tritium Light Sources - Very Rare 2006 Model - Looks New
R220824/4
This watch is a G10SL GTLS Tritium model, below is a full description of the watch.
Model: G10SL 2006 Model
Condition: Looks as New (See Images) the watch came in and still has the plastic protective film on the Crystal!
Fault: This watch is one the first GTLS G10 models which MWC made and this model was made between 2002 and 2007, this particular watch is 2006 and is not running but we have to assume in all probability that it's simply a battery issue because the watch looks good as new and is 18 years old and has clearly been in storage.
As a point of interest the Watch which is shown on the factory website at the link below is the current version of the 2006 watch which is shown here although the two watches look very similar there is a very significant difference in the specification but this particular model is very interesting from a historical perspective especially for somebody who collects military watches: https://mwcwatches.com/products/g10sl-mkv-200m-660ft-water-resistant-military-watch-with-gtls-tritium-light-sources-sapphire-crystal-and-10-year-battery-life?_pos=2&_sid=40dbe7fc3&_ss=
It is extremely rare to find an original 2006 watch in such pristine, like-new condition. We haven't come across one like this in over 10 years. Please note, the image of the watch in the box was taken after we received the delivery from the surplus auction. At that time, the plastic protector was still on the face, giving it a slightly cloudy appearance. The other images, however, show the watch without the plastic protector.

We located the original 2006 Factory Description of this model in our files which is below:
This is a GTLS self luminous G10 model in a heavy duty stainless steel case with 50m / 165ft Water Resistance. The MWC G10 SL MKV is the highest specification Watch of this type available and the only G10 watch with GTLS tritium tubes.
This model combines the best of new and traditional technology. It keeps all the popular features from the conventional G10 Luminova models and employs the same solid steel case whilst having the benefit of the cutting edge self luminous GTLS tritium vials. The actual specification of this watch was dictated by American Military Specification Number: US MIL-W-46374F.
The self luminous system makes the watch very easy to read at night and the watch has a very distinctive face layout. The hour and minute hands each have a brightly glowing vial of Tritium gas with 2 lights at 12 which is a feature unique to MWC. Whilst the vials contain radioactive gas even when thay are all taken together they contain less than the personal limit of 25 millicuries. (see U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations 10 CFR 30.15).
Military watches of this type are the easiest in the world to read in low light or total darkness thanks to a self-activated light source which is 100 times brighter than traditional light sources such as paint. The light-emitting tubes require no battery power or any other form of charging, and never need servicing or maintenance. The life expectancy of the light sources is at least 10 years after which they would start to fade.
The standard MWC G10 is one of the most tried and tested models and in its earlier variants has been in service for almost 20 years, this model shares a similar casing to the Luminova models hence it will be just as durable as the non tritium Luminova versions which we manufacture.
The G10SL is supplied with a heavyweight NATO webbing strap. The reverse of the case carries various contract markings.
