This self-luminous G10 model is a remake of a popular model which MWC made in the past. It has a heavy-duty stainless steel case with 100m (330ft) Water Resistance, screw-down crown, screw caseback and 10-year battery life.

This model combines the best of new and traditional technology. It keeps all the popular features from the conventional G10 Luminova models and employs the same solid steel case whilst having the benefit of the cutting edge self-luminous GTLS tritium vials. The actual specification of this watch was dictated by American Military Specification Number: US MIL-W-46374F.

The self luminous system makes the watch very easy to read at night and the MKV has a very distinctive face layout. The hour and minute hands each have a brightly glowing vial of Tritium gas with 2 lights at 12 which is a feature unique to MWC. Whilst the vials contain radioactive gas even when they are all taken together they contain less than the personal limit of 25 millicuries. (see U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations 10 CFR 30.15).

The special covert matt black non-reflective PVD finish used for this watch is often specified in military contracts for many special forces units as well as by anti-terrorist units and for various covert operations. In the PVD process, the steel is not black all the way through because the colour is created by a special chemical PVD plating process which is vastly superior to the painted finish used on some lower quality watches which can easily fade or rub off. This PVD process means that the colour of the steel is altered at a molecular level, therefore it will not deteriorate even during heavy usage although it can be damaged by a piece of metal being gouged out or if the case is worn down by really heavy abrasion against rocks or something similar although many customers have watches which we made in the 1990s and the PVD finish is still in excellent condition.

Military watches of this type are the easiest in the world to read in low light or total darkness thanks to the self-activated light source which are up to 100 times brighter than traditional light sources such as luminous paint. The light-emitting tubes require no battery power or any other form of charging, and never need servicing or maintenance. The life expectancy of the light sources is at least 10 years after which they would start to fade. To compare Tritium GTLS tubes and Super-LumiNova click here

The standard MWC G10 is one of the most tried and tested models and in its earlier variants has been in service for well over 30 years, this model shares a similar casing to the Luminova models hence it will be just as durable as the non-tritium versions which we manufacture.

The G10 SL MKV is supplied with a heavyweight NATO webbing strap. The reverse of the case carries various contract markings.
